1. Oman Customs thwarts smuggling of 2,000 boxes of illegal cigarettes

Oman Customs has foiled the smuggling of more than 2,000 boxes of illegal cigarettes to evade paying taxes and permit procedures into the Sultanate of Oman.
Oman Customs said in a statement: “Khatmat Milaha Customs thwarts a smuggling operation of more than 2,000 boxes of illegal cigarette, which the smuggler deliberately hid in cavities under the truck, in order to evade paying taxes and permit procedures.”
2. Rainfall predicted in parts of Oman

An air depression will affect the atmosphere of the Sultanate of Oman and lead to isolated rainfall for two days, starting from Sunday, November 6, 2022.
Oman Meteorology said in a statement: “The impact of an air depression begins on the atmosphere of the Sultanate of Oman, leading to the flow and formation of clouds over the northern governorates, and opportunities for scattered rain in the Musandam Governorate, on the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman, and on parts of the Hajar Mountains today and tomorrow.” 
3. 2 arrested, 56 illegal fishing nets seized in Dhofar Governorate

Two people have been arrested and 56 illegal fishing nets were seized for catching lobster out of season in Dhofar Governorate.
“Two fishermen were arrested in Taqa for catching lobster out of season and 56 nets used in lobster fishing were seized during the tasks of the control team from the Wilayat of Salalah to the wilayats of Rakhyut and Dhalkut. The Legal procedures are being completed against the violators, ” Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Dhofar Governorate said in a statement. 
4. Over 1,000 wild trees planted in Wadi Sireen Nature Reserve

Muscat Municipality has implemented an initiative to plant more than 1,000 wild trees in the Wadi Sireen Nature Reserve.
“A joint initiative that brought together Muscat Municipality in Amerat, the Wali’s Office, with the Environment Authority and Amerat Charitable Team to plant 1,500 trees in Wadi Sireen Nature Reserve, with the aim of increasing the green area, providing a suitable environment for the creatures in the reserve, and raising community awareness of the importance of afforestation by involving them in the initiative,” Muscat Municipality said said in a statement.
