It’s impossible to pick where we want to visit first!
Though the last few years haven’t been as full of travel and jet-setting as many of us would have liked (pandemic staycation, anyone?), the new year might just change that. Thanks to eased-up travel restrictions in many places, plus plenty of luxurious new hotel openings as well as incredible redesigns and renovations, 2023 seems like it’s going to be a banner year for travel. These well-appointed hotels all boast beautiful design and feature luxe amenities such as world-class spas, golf courses, white sand beaches, and more. Whether you want to fly to Hawaii for some fun in the sun, go glamping in Saudi Arabia, decompress at a spa in Arizona or head to Boston for a rock and roll-inspired weekend, there’s something for everyone on this list. Here are the best luxury hotel openings for 2023 to keep on your travel radar.

Also new to the property is Japanese Bocce Club, a restaurant from Mario Carbone that boasts beautiful interiors, world-class sushi, and an extensive sake menu.
Nestled between 200 acres of Mexico’s tropical jungle and white sand beaches overlooking the Caribbean waters of the Yucatan Peninsula, Maroma Resort & Spa will reopen on May 25, 2023 following an extensive renovation and redesign by Tara Bernerd and her team. The buildings’ architecture will be aligned to the Sacred Geometry of Mayan masons, and the newly renovated spa will feature ancient healing rituals inspired by nature.
In honor of the The Colony Palm Beach’s 75th anniversary, the “Pink Paradise” just unveiled a full redesign of its guest rooms. Ecoventura’s newest sustainable luxury yacht, Evolve, will set sail for the first time on January 15, 2023. Once aboard, you’ll spend a week cruising through the crystal clear waters of the Galapagos Islands learning about the fascinating wildlife from two certified naturalists. Since animals wander freely throughout the archipelago, you might find yourself swimming with sea turtles, sunbathing with sea lions, or hiking with blue-footed boobies. After a day of adventuring, head back to the ship to enjoy a sustainably sourced meal; take a soak in the jacuzzi; or lounge on the sundeck with panoramic views. Since only 20 guests are permitted on the yacht, you’ll feel like you have the islands all to yourself.
Iconic hotel Atlantis is currently undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation to make it bigger and better than ever. In early 2023, Chef Michael White will open Paranza at The Cove, a restaurant serving modern Italian coastal cuisine. This addition will make Atlantis the only resort in the region with three Michelin-starred chefs on staff. Additionally, the Atlantis Casino is undergoing a massive refresh with more modern finishes, new lounges (including a high-limit slots lounge), an expanded gaming salon, and additional cocktail lounges and bars. Lastly, renovations of all guestrooms and suites in The Royal Tower are slated to be completed in 2023.

Half of the “fleet” of 10 trailers opened in late 2022, and the other five trailers are slated to open in 2023.

Renowned five-star hotel, Le Relais Bernard Loiseau, is located in the heart of Burgundy, France. The hotel recently completed the first stage of a major renovation, overseen by architect Arnaud Behzadi, and unveiled three rooms (two of which that were designed as “cocoon” suites with enclosed beds and nature-inspired decor) with a completely new look that features warm colors and traditional materials from the region. The multi-stage renovation will continue through 2023 and see the upgrade of the gastronomic kitchen of the renowned 2-Michelin-Starred restaurant La Côte d’Or, the dining rooms, bar area, lobby and more. Additionally, the design of the resort’s 11 cottages was inspired by indigenous flora and fauna (think: hydrangea and honeysuckle). We’re perhaps most excited to see the new original art throughout the hotel, which stems from the all-new Artist in Residency Program that launched in August 2022.

The project, led by the lodge’s original architect Max Pritchard and his partner Andrew Gunner, will keep most of its original footprint, but the 25 luxury guest suites have been repositioned to offer even better views of the ocean and rugged coastline. Additionally, a new Ocean Pavilion suite will sit remotely and boast an outdoor terrace, wet-edge pool and up to four bedrooms and bathrooms. Sustainability sits at the core of this redesign, and hybrid solar and battery infrastructure will allow the lodge to run off the grid while reducing diesel fuel consumption by half. The resort has also cleared the coastline, planted fire-retardant succulents and native juniper, and installed a bushfire sprinkler system for extra safety.
