Britain’s Got Talent has released a preview of this week’s new episode, featuring judge Simon Cowell and a sweet surprise for a children’s choir. The group is made up of kids whose parents serve in the armed forces.

Simon Cowell Surprises ‘BGT’ Children’s Choir

At the start of the clip, Cowell enters the Royal Military Chapel (or Guards’ Chapel) in London. He walks in as the choir is singing and asks if he can interrupt. The kids scream and jump up and down with excitement when they realize he’s there.

“I know a little bit about you,” Cowell tells the group. “I hear that you’re a choir. I hear you’re a very good choir. And all of your parents have either served or are serving in the armed forces. And someone told me you might be the best choir in the world.”

The judge then tells them that they’ll have the opportunity to audition for Britain’s Got Talent. The kids can’t contain their excitement, confirming to Cowell that they plan to win the show. We’ll get to see their audition in Saturday’s new episode.

What Is the Voices of Armed Forces Children Choir?

The Voices of Armed Forces Children Choir was formed as part of a project by the organization Never Such Innocence. According to the NSI website, “We offer opportunities to reflect on conflict throughout history and today through poetry, art, speech and song.”

According to the choir’s Instagram page, the group includes members between the ages of 6 and 18 whose parents are in the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and Army. They also teased Saturday’s appearance on BGT.

The organization encourages children of service members to express themselves. Last year, the choir released a song called “Welcome Home,” featuring the voices of 21 service children. A music video for the song shows the kids recording it at Abbey Road Studios in London.
