The UAE government has announced the public holidays for the government and private sectors, for the upcoming year. This would help people to plan their vacation in advance. The new year begins with a public holiday on 1 January.
Public holidays merging with weekends are likely to happen at least four times. The Ramadan holidays are the most important ones. Even though there could be changes depending up on moon – sighting, the Eid al-Fitr holidays are from 20 – 23 April. These are from Thursday to Sunday. The Arafah holidays are the longest. As per the calendar, the Arafah holidays would be from 27 June, a Tuesday until 30 June, Friday. When combined with the weekend holidays of Saturday and Sunday, you would get up to six days.
The Hijri New Year is on 21 July, a Friday. This too comes along with the weekend holidays. It is assumed that Mawlid would be celebrated on 29 September, which is also a Friday, making it an extended weekend.
Besides, 2 and 3 December would be holidays as UAE celebrates the national day. However, these days are Saturday and Sunday.
